Boot Care

With proper care, cleaning, and conditioning, our boots can last you a very long time.

To clean, start with a dry boot.

  • Use a horsehair brush (or soft bristle shoe brush) to brush away as much dirt and dust as you can. Try to get into the seams and crevices where dirt tends to accumulate.
  • Take a damp cloth and wipe the boot down. This will remove much of the surface dirt.
  • Apply a leather cleaning product according to the product’s instructions. Sometimes you may need to do this more than once.
  • Wipe the boot down with a clean cloth, dampened with water.
  • Allow the boot to air dry.
  • Apply a leather conditioner. Allow the conditioner to soak in to the leather for at least 15 minutes or according to the product’s instructions. Wipe off any excess.
  • If you desire, now is the time to apply a weatherproofing agent. This is not necessary, but can provide added protection if you are in a high moisture environment.

Cleaning and conditioning your boots rejuvenates the leather. Over time and with exposure to the elements your leather can become dry and begin to deteriorate. It’s important to take care of your boots to extend their lifespan.
